About Maggie Wilson

Maggie Wilson, M.Ed., LPC, NCC studied at William Paterson University and earned a Master of Education degree in Professional Counseling and a Master of Arts degree in Communication. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey, as well as a National Certified Counselor. In addition to providing counseling to clients at Stress Management Counseling Center, LLC, Maggie currently works as a Readjustment Counselor with the Department of Veterans Affairs, providing therapeutic services to trauma-stricken veterans and their families. Underlying Maggie’s therapeutic approach is a focus on intrapersonal communication – our internal dialog with ourselves. Combining Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and cognitive therapies (such as CBT: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Maggie helps her clients reduce emotional distress, identify and alter unhealthy thinking habits, and focus on personal strengths to reach desired goals. Maggie’s areas of expertise include adjustment, anger, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, grief, relationships, self-esteem, and trauma (including sexual trauma). Of note, Maggie served in the United States Air Force from 1994 to 2006. She flew as an Air Surveillance Officer onboard the E-3 AWACS aircraft during the Kosovo war. Maggie held the rank of Major.
